Published the update this morning—success—and let the kettle whistle while the bay outside stayed calm and grey. Today was about winding down: tidying cables, labeling SD cards, and giving the tiny three-node rig one last pat before the road to Springdale.

Morning vibes

Newtown has a way of slowing time. The salt air sneaks through the window screens, gulls heckle from the point, and a shy bit of sunlight warms the table where the little computers have been quietly doing their thing. I took a minute to just listen—to fans barely spinning and the old house creaking like it approved of the whole experiment.

Shut-down ritual

Nothing fancy: close the terminals, stop the services, coil the Ethernet like rope on a stage, and tuck everything into its travel pouch. A sticky note with the day’s date went on top—future-me will appreciate it when I’m tired and unpacking.

The road ahead

Next stop: Springdale. The plan is simple—plug in, check that the three lights blink in the right order, run a quick read/write test, and then enjoy whatever sunset is waiting up the bay. With luck, the only troubleshooting tonight will be choosing the right mug for the late coffee.

A small win, carried forward

What I love about this little build is how portable it feels. It’s just a handful of boards and cables, but it turns any table—kitchen, cabin, or tailgate—into a tiny lab. Today’s win was getting the story out and getting the gear ready to travel without drama.

Next entry: landing in Springdale and spinning the stack back up.
