I just wrapped up a wonderful trip back to Newfoundland, the place where I was born and lived into my 30s before making the move to Ontario. This trip was all about reconnecting—with family, with old places, and with the rhythm of life back home.
I spent time in Springdale, catching up and sharing stories, in Newtown, where the pace of life slows and the salt air feels familiar, and in Steady Brook, surrounded by the Humber River and those beautiful west coast hills. Every stop was filled with family, laughter, and plenty of yarns that reminded me why Newfoundland will always be a part of who I am.
As much as I enjoyed the vacation, it feels good to be back home in Sault Ste. Marie. There’s a comfort in returning to my own space and routines, even while carrying the warmth of family visits and memories from the trip. Newfoundland gave me roots, and Sault Ste. Marie gives me a home.
